The Portfolio Tracker I Use To Manage My $425,000 Stock Portfolio!

How I Automatically Manage My $425,000 Dividend Stock Portfolio Using Google Spreadsheets

I've been collectively fine tuning this tool for the past seven years and I think we're near perfection. This tracker is everything I need in one location, stock quotes across multiple accounts, forecasted dividends, monthly dividend expectations, sector allocation.

Too long I fought with excel to track stock by stock. Increase dividend after dividend by hand. Part of that is fun, the extra time put into those manual spreadsheets builds character and allows you to grow with your portfolio. However the time comes when you need to spend your time more wisely and manage the portfolio and your position weightings rather than manage a spreadsheet.

I struggle to think about what is more valuable in the portfolio for me, the dividend forecasting or the portfolio overview by sector.

Below is an example of the overview tab of my personal portfolio showing my dividend income and value percentage by account and sector. Easy to update to track your own! Fully automated once set-up by the way.

Also important to me is the monthly graphics that allow me to see how I am progressing year over year, month by month. See what months you expect higher income than the rest. For example, I know the third month of every quarter is my highest month, and now the first and second month of the quarter are approximately the same (after some recent dividend cuts).

Also crucial for me was to know when companies raise their dividend and the ex-dividend date is. I put some conditional formatting in here to inform you if you have an upcoming ex-dividend date or if it is within a week! Check it out.

If dividends aren't your thing and you want to use this tool as a watch list, you can gather all relevant information like P/E, market cap, 52-week high and low, and other crucial information. And if that is more important to you than dividends, you can easily click and move columns to the order of preference without breaking any links or creating reference errors.
